Mahindra Launches Logan's makeover version the 'Verito'

Priced at Rs 4.82 lakh for the petrol BS3 version and 5.62 lakh for the diesel BS3 version, the new Mahindra Verito retains all its Logan characteristics while moving a design quotient higher in its class

Mahindra Verito

After the split between Mahindra and French car maker Renault was made official and completed in every respect, the first smart move by the indigenous car maker was to slash the pricing of its existing Logan model. The Logan, which very quickly established itself as a safe, dependable, spacious and fuel efficient sedan, failed unfortunately to pull in heavy sales for Mahindra while its Renault alliance was alive.

With the complete ownership of its flagship entry level sedan now in its palms, Mahindra has gone ahead and revamped the styling of its Logan model, now calling it the ‘Verito’.

The new Verito retains the same strengths of the older Logan model, but has been speckled with several rugged and sporty styling elements in order to make it look a bit more exciting than its bland looking predecessor. The exterior of the Verito now flaunts ski racks and side cladding, something not seen before in an Indian sedan. A chrome spoiler and appliqué give the new Verito a nice distinctive look at the rear.

Mahindra Verito Rear

Speaking at the launch of the Verito, Mr. Rajesh Jejurikar, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said “The Verito, with its unique value proposition aligns with the Mahindra DNA of offering tough, rugged and sporty vehicles. For the first time, we are using social media platforms to unveil a new product, reflecting alternative thinking. The earlier Logan will continue to get complete service and spares support from us.”

The new ‘Verito’ will continue to be powered by the same Renault engine and offer oodles of space as the older Logan model. Coming with both, a 1.5 DCi CRDi diesel engine or 1.4 MPFI petrol engine, the Verito offers an amazing 21.03 KMPL fuel efficiency.

A 510 litre boot capacity and a host of safety features like ABS, Driver Airbags, EBD and driver information systems gives the car a slight edge over its worthy competitors. The new Mahindra ‘Verito’ is competitively priced at Rs. 4.82 lakh (petrol BS3 version) & 5.62 lakh (Diesel BS3 version). The BS4 compliant version is also available for BS4 markets.

Kawasaki Ninja 250R vs. Honda CBR250R - The Battle for Supremacy

We Compare for you the features and specifications offered by the Kawasaki Ninja 250R and the Honda CBR250R. Its a Battle for Supremacy for these extraordinary street kings. I bet you would find this battle of titans Kawasaki and Honda entertaining.

Honda CBR250R

Honda this time has yet another contender Kawasaki from its own home ground. Getting in the ring from one side is Honda CBR250R and to the other is Kawasaki Ninja 250. 250 cc in India had never before experienced such warmth. But with the launch of Honda CBR250R in India Honda has laid their strong grip hold once again on the Indian grounds. From the CBR family the new member CBR 250R is something promising for speed enthusiasts of India.

Test riding this CBR was like having a safari on African jungle. With such a promising ride that this massive power plant delivered, the excitement level was also up to the mark. Another 250 from Japanese player Kawasaki Ninja was not a blockbuster among Indian premium buyers.

Power Plant

Honda CBR250R 2011 is powered by 1.6 Liter engine, while Kawasaki Ninja 250R posses a 3.0 Liter engine. Honda’s single cylinder engine gets maximum power output and can almost compete with twin cylinder engine as that assembled in Kawasaki. Honda CBR250R is capable of engineering 26 hp while on the same note Kawasaki can generate 32 hp. Comparing the kerb weight you will find Ninja to be more obese with 169 kgs, while the Honda flaunting 162 kgs only. This mind blowing Ninja flaunts a 249 cc displacement engine, DOHC, 4 stroke power plant makes it look like a monster in the 250 cc bike segment. This Kawasaki engine engineers 33 ps at 11,000 rpm and has got peak torque of 22 Nm at 8200 rpm. With parallel dual cylinder you can expect something superfluous and Kawasaki has kept this machine up to the mark by delivering few hp more as compared to the Honda flying machine. Honda CBR250R in India is expected to be on a much powerful note in order to pack the extra punch on Indian roads. Kawasaki Ninja 250 R in India will be flaunting power packed engine that makes the overall ride punchier.

With dual responsive throttle the entry level sports bike has manage d to deliver cutting edge performance. Fine droplets received from the fuel injector, turns on the engine of this which later shows us out of the box performance. Cleaner emissions are also assured from Kawasaki which makes this bike eco friendly as well.
On a serious note on the power plant you can get Kawasaki Ninja 250 R is more efficient than Honda CBR250 R. Kawasaki Ninja is a winning bet if the two are on a race track.

Kawasaki Ninja 250R
Riding Impression

Honda On the very press started gave much responsive throttle feel that made it look more promising like other Honda bikes. When on the highest peak level of 7000 rpm you will definitely feel CBR turning into a beast and clinging to an impressive bhp that is at 8,500 rpm. Honda with its enhanced ergonomics gives its rider a stress free ride experience, even for long distance journey. The massive handle bar from its CBR family gives you extra control and feel of the road. 30.5” saddle height gives a straight posture with well rounded seating experience, this will definitely make you feel flying a jet while seating in a cockpit. With superior knee recess and rightly placed Foot pegs, the ride is smooth for tall riders as well. Riding Two up is always exquisite and when it’s your loved one then you should consider the pillion rider comfort level as well. Looking at the rear grab rail, Seating and foot rests all I can say was outstanding. Weaving the Bike or in other terms managing it in the busy Indian traffic is something like slicing a knife through hot butter. Honda’s geometrical dimensions keep the rider more intact at every shift this overall increases the ride safety as well. The enhanced suspension used in Kawasaki makes the overall ride experience even more appealing. Coming to ergonomics of Kawasaki it is not as promising as the Honda baby. After the test ride of both the bikes I got a clear view of what suits best on Highway and which is the better city road bike. Honda is for the easy on pocket buyers who want to explore highway from different angles while Kawasaki Ninja is for the big player who wasn’t to weave through the city traffic more efficiently.

Appearance

Dealing with this entry level sports bike from the CBR family made me feel gutsier than ever before as it came with a massive body, and power packed engine which responded to the every pull and push. Rear placed foot pegs, cut throat graphics, Masks that explodes out rear view mirrors, craftsmanship fairing and superior windshields makes it a true child from the Honda family. Alloy Wheels caked in black shade just jells out with the killing graphics and body colours of this bike. With an owl look this hot chic has got those extra stars when it comes to the appearance of the bike. The speed o meter, tachometer, fuel gauge and tripmeter are assembled inside three pod console panel. Turn indicators are also housed on the instrument panel. Low batteries as well as Choked air filter are indicated on the same, which is not there in Honda CB250R. Talking about the deadly graphics used on the bike makes it eye catchy bike in the 250 cc segment. The Iconic Ninja emblem on the air scoops and Kawasaki logo on tank is something that only Kawasaki offers. The sexy and sporty looks have contributed in a lot many ways in its success. Honda CBR250R has got macho looks of futuristic generation. Considering the looks of both the entry level sports I would give ninja more stars as it has got the true sporting machine looks. Honda lacks the sporty look but is far more competing even with its macho looks.

The full fairing trademark of Ninja is something extra ordinary as compared to Honda CBR250R. The neat and bulky fairing of Ninja has got many added points as compared to Honda CBR250R. Plastic fairing and stainless steel fuel tank makes this bike even more eyes catchy and attractive. The half naked engine of Ninja leaves us to want more where the fairing covers the upside in a professional manner. The masks of Hulk flaunt DRL (day time running lights) that is more for safety at the same time it increases the beastly appearance as well. Broader windscreens aid you to have proper protection from dust.

Kawasaki Ninja 250R vs. Honda CBR250R Video (On Road Battle):

Performance

Accelerating the bike from naught to 100 on highway is just 6.5 sec, which is quiet promising for a bike with such hefty body and power plant. Once the gear shifts to 5th or the 6th gear you can expect a smooth ride. Bottom gear shifts can make you experience the pull of the engine on a grand scale. On board with 80 kg rider the speed of 110 can be chased with ease.

Comparing the red with the green I was satisfied with Ninja, but Honda’s competitive price tag makes it more worthy in this segment. Without any doubt you can rely on Ninja as the speediest of both , But to attain this speed, every time Ninja has to pay huge price that is more frictions in the engine as well as the NVH at that point is at the maximum. Honda CBR250R is a show buzz as it can reach its maximum with minimum efforts and drama. Going fast is not everything but attaining the maximum with fewer struggles is something you should pack you deals with. Honda and performance are similar words when it comes to bikes or biking. The roll on speed that this Honda delivers on top gear is something very impressive as compared to green Hulk. Like father like son sounds new, but once you have your grip on Honda CBR 250 R you will understand this term in more professional manner. Riding on dry road conditions Honda performed something noticeable but when it came to wet roads Honda started showing disreputable colours. Coming to Hulk we saw better performance on both dry as well as wet road conditions. Maintaining the Economy speed on highway came with a better result on the Honda Side, while Kawasaki flaunted just like other Kwracker’s did earlier. Thanks to catalytic converter that came along with upgraded ECU settings. This time Kawasaki Ninja 250R in India has been offered with a larger fuel tank that is you can fill in juice up to 17 litres. Although Kawasaki has tried a lot to improve the fuel efficiency by assembling combustion system and fuel inject. Dual sensor headlamps offer its user more visibility as compared to halogen headlamps of Honda CBR250R. Kawasaki is capable of chasing naught to 100 kmph in almost 8.1 sec. Maximum Acceleration can take you to a top speed of 176 kmph while the estimated Top speed for Honda is 160 to 163 kmph. Coming on a race you can bet Ninja to perform better than Honda CBR250R. Talking to the winds is now possible with Kawasaki Ninja 250R.

Colors Schemes

Ninja has got 2 awe inspiring colour schemes that is lemon green and killer Black, at the same time Honda has taken due care for colour tastes of all types pf buyers. Honda CBR250R is offered with two popular colour shades from the CBR family Metallic black and Red Silver. Attractive colour schemes offered by the make makes both the bikes even more appealing. Ninja’s silver burst at foot pegs, disc brakes and exhaust makes look it like a baby wrapped with green colour coat. Black treatment on many parts reaches this Ninja to the next level sports bike. Pillion seat which is in identical lime green colour makes it more appealing and contrasting. Front full fender, Full fairing all share the same color scheme which is one of the best features of this bike.
Going to the colour scheme judging is quiet very difficult as both Honda and Ninja expertise have put in a lot of efforts to make the bikes more appealing.

Suspension

With maker loaded forks12 and adjustable shocks at both front and rear Honda CBR250R is one of the finest cars to show in 250 cc segment. Acceleration and vibration is just like synonyms when it comes to ride experience on Honda CBR250 R. what you have in this Honda is none other than the 37 mm Front telescopic fork suspension combined with travel 130 mm while at the Rear Honda’s 104 mm travel which is blended with Pro Link Monoshock is the perfect combination that gives combine effort of Performance and ride pleasure.

Kawasaki Ninja 250R comes along with the best features due to its high priced sticker tag. For maximum bump free ride even during the worst road conditions Kawasaki Ninja 250R is employed with 37 mm front telescopic shock absorbers and UNI shock rear shocks at the rear. This makes it one of the most reliable machines when it comes to roadability. Attaining more comfort from this suspension is like getting the right thing for the right price with Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Considering the suspension you can give Kawasaki Ninja 250 R ten out of ten points while Honda CBR250R receives 8 out of ten points.

Braking

Buyers have the option of ABS and standard braking system. Coming to the ABS version, Honda Aficionados will have to shed some extra penny from their pockets, while the non ABS version is much cheaper. Enhanced braking abilities which is derived from the reliable 296 mm x 4.5 mm Hydraulic disc brakes has been mated with resin pads and dual piston caliper. Coming to the rear you may find 220mm x 5 mm single piston caliper which is mated with resin pads. Honda’s ABS option is something which is not offered on Kawasaki Ninja 250R and for buyers who want something extra for braking Honda CBR250R is the only option.

Indian roads need extra punch therefore Kawasaki has surely given its best with this bike you don’t want to expect anything more when you have bigger wheel base and petal disc brakes. This green hulk is offered with disc brakes at both sides which make it perform better. Braking power and abilities can rarely be challenged with any other make in this segment. Halting was never before so exciting and easy but with Ninja you can something beyond imagination. In the front you have 290 mm disc at the rear ninja offers 220 mm disc. This fails when it comes to the ABS standard of Honda CBR250R but with base model this Ninja brakes are far more a better choice. Larger wheelbase offered from Kawasaki and Honda proves to aid these machines with better grip and stability. If Skidding is your worst nightmare then you can almost take it out of your dreams on bikes like Honda CBR 250 R and Kawasaki 250R. Comparing in terms of braking both CBR 250R and Ninja 205R share the same price.

Pricing

Honda CBR250R has been competitively priced which makes it for the people, by the people vehicle. Kawasaki Ninja 250R is something like big players game with a sticker price tag of rupees 3 lakhs, However considering the global market Honda CBR250R and Kawasaki Ninja 250 are priced almost with a same price tag. Even though with such a price tag and twin cylinder engine Ninja responds nothing extra ordinary when it comes to Honda CBR250 R. taking into consideration the price, you might be thinking what extra does Ninja delivers to its user. The answer will be nothing as of now. Honda CBR250R price in India is Rs 1,50,000 for Non ABS version and for ABS version you will have to pay sme extra penny. Kawasaki Ninja 250R price in India is 3 lakhs.

Final Verdict

You will definitely find some serious competition between the red hell boy and green Hulk with so many similar features, powers and competitive pricing. Kawasaki Ninja lacks main stand and has got only side stand. The instrument console is in analogue format which is not that pleasing compared to the Honda CBR250R. With no back rail grabs for pillion riders the bike offers disappointment for pillion riders’ comfort. Kawasaki Ninja is highly priced while Honda CBR250R is for the mid segment sports buyers.

New Nissan Leaf announced 2011 'World Car of the Year'

Nissan Leaf 2011 'World Car of the Year'

Choosing the best automobile in the world can never be an easy task. Taking into account the multiple segments, and more importantly the constant evolution of automobiles that is taking place at such a rapid pace choosing the best of lot becomes all the more difficult.

The international jury at the 2011 ‘World Car Awards’ comprising of sixty-six (66) top-level automotive journalists (including the Editor-in-Chief of ZigWheels) from twenty-four (24) countries around the world were expected to do just that.

The all electric Nissan Leaf, the spectacular new Audi A8 and the best-selling BMW 5 Series were chosen as the three finalists for the most prestigious awards of the event from an initial entry list of thirty-nine (39) new vehicles from all over the world.

Nissan Leaf

Observing that the 5-seater, 5-door zero emission EV from Nissan was indeed the world’s first purposefully built, mass market electric car to ever show real potential, the World Car Awards jurors were convinced that the Nissan Leaf, which since its launch has globally been the most awarded green car till date deserved nothing short of the ‘World Car Awards’ owing to its path breaking technology and emission free on road performance capabilities.

Taking immense pride in the Leaf’s historic victory at such a grand international automobile stage, Nissan Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn said, “This accolade recognizes Nissan LEAF, a pioneer in zero-emission mobility, as comparable in its driving performance, quietness and superb handling to gas-powered cars. It validates Nissan’s clear vision and the values of sustainable mobility that we want to offer to customers around the world.”

Strictly on the performance side, the World Car Awards jurors observed that the Leaf’s low center of gravity produced sharp turn-in with almost no body roll and no understeer. This made the Nissan Leaf feel just like a normal car, but only quieter.

Worthy of every award that it has ever been presented the Leaf’s revolutionary technology and sturdy performance has secured it the 2011 World Car Award status, and has given it a special place in the list of previous ‘World Car Award; winners, which include the Volkswagen Polo, the Mazda Demio, the BMW 3-Series and the Audi A6.

Tata Pixel Concept - Geneva Motor Show 2011

A really nice surprise, a well resolved piece of design, and – in many ways – could yet turn out to be one of the real stars of the show. The Tata Pixel is the first true concept car from the company, and was designed by a small, young team, based in the UK.
Tata Pixel - Concept

The car has a real sense of simple, elegant design quality about it, with hints of the Kia Pop and Pininfarina Nido in its form and size. However, its design has its own character and the bigger, more obvious reference here is to the company’s own Nano. It’s ultimately suggestive of an evolution in design beyond that ground breaking car, and feels like a statement of intent to place design at the heart of the company’s vehicles going forward.

It’s also interesting to see Tata playing on the idea of the digitisation of the car, in both the name and the treatment of the lower apertures. We’ll come back to this car to explore it in more detail tomorrow, and hopefully to get a better idea of the background story behind its design.

Rolls Royce Unveils Ghost EWB - Ghost Extended Wheelbase

Rolls Royce Unveils Ghost EWB - Ghost Extended Wheelbase at the Shanghai Auto Show. Take the first look at this not so scary 'Ghost'.

Rolls Royce Ghost EWB - Ghost Extended Wheelbase

Rolls-Royce has added a second model in its Ghost lineup called the Ghost Extended Wheelbase. This is one of the first of a number of models to be spun off the platform of its new smaller saloon. The Ghost ‘EWB’ was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show.

Like stretched Phantom, the Ghost ‘EWB’ is simply a longer and more spacious version of the standard model. The car has 170mm of extra space between the axles, but that extra length has been cleverly balanced visually, with only 35mm of extra length going into the rear doors.

Minimum kneeroom in the back of the car – the distance between the back of the front seat in its rearmost position and the front of the rear seat’s squab – has risen from 160- to 330mm.

The Ghost EWB also gets a panoramic sunroof as standard that, according to Rolls-Royce, allows more light into the rear of the cabin, enhancing the sensation of space. Styling distinctions outside include a new forged alloy wheel design. This version of the Ghost is expected to be Rolls’ most popular model in countries like China, and is the first of the firm’s models ever to be unveiled to the world on the Asian continent.

The Ghost EWB will go into production at Goodwood later this year. However in China, where the model was unveiled, prices are expected to be atleast 20% higher than the standard wheelbase version.

Autocar has also learnt that there will be more versions of the Ghost like the Coupe and the Drophead in the future.

Volkswagen Reveals 2012 Beetle - Curves are back

First Look of the all new Volkswagen Beetle 2012
Volkswagen Beetle 2012

Volkswagen is giving the latest version of its ‘world car’, the Beetle, a global launch, with simultaneous reveals at the Shanghai and New York shows, plus an event in Berlin.

The latest car builds on the semi-retro ‘New Beetle’, which was introduced in 1998 and accounted for more than a million sales before it was finally discontinued last year. So while VW states that every part has been remade, its lines still stick closely to those of the original Volkswagen, which has sold over 20 million units.
The new car is 1.808m wide, 1.486m tall and 4.278m long; that’s 84mm wider, 12mm lower and 152mm longer than the outgoing version, and considerably wider and longer than a Golf. Designed under the direction of VW Group design chief Walter de’Silva and VW brand design boss Klaus Bischoff, the Beetle gets sharper, squarer bumpers, and a more rakish roofline.

New features for the Beetle include LED daytime running lights, bi-xenon headlights, an integrated rear spoiler, and larger wheels (up to 19in will be available).

The engine options globally will be three turbocharged petrol units, with 103bhp (1.2), 158bhp (1.4) and 197bhp (2.0), and a pair of turbodiesels with 103bhp (1.6) and 138bhp (2.0). VW’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will be offered as an option; The most potent petrol variant can reach 207kph It and the 1.6 TSI get VW’s electronic differential lock, which brakes to stop the unloaded inside wheel from spinning during cornering. Cabin-oriented features include navigation system (the first time navigation has been available on a Beetle), a premium sound system developed with guitar and amplifier manufacturer Fender, keyless access, and a panoramic glass roof that’s 80 per cent larger than the item offered on the previous model.

However, the dashboard-mounted flower vase - one of the 1998 model’s most distinguishing features - has been dropped, giving the Beetle’s fascia a more conventional look. The new Beetle will be built at VW’s Puebla plant in Mexico, alongside the Jetta, with which it shares a platform.A convertible version is already under development; it’ll go on sale later in 2012.

FGR Midalu - Czech Powerhouse on Wheels!

Czech bike-maker FGR has introduced its first and world's most powerful production motorcycle - the Midalu

FGR Midalu 2.5 litre muscle-bike!

Madness is what many would call it, but for hardcore horsepower junkies the FGR Midalu muscle-bike would probably be the most exciting piece of machinery to roll out this year. An effort from Czech-based firm FGR that is backed by the Czech Republican government, the Midalu 2.5 litre V6 muscle motorcycle is one mental product and FGR claims it to be the world’s most powerful production motorcycle of today. It might remind some of the great Mammot Munch 2.0 litre, 260bhp mad motorcycle that was introduced over a decade ago!

This probably is the most competent predecessor to the heritage of huge-hearted motorcycles like the Munch. Powered by a 2.5 litre (that’s 2,500cc) V6 engine, the Midalu puts out mind numbing 240 horses and the total configuration weighs about 270kg. Covered in carbon-fibre, the Midalu has been built with great detail with parts from Ohlins, Brembo and OZ Racing wheels. The motorcycle also has components contributed by over forty-four different companies from various countries including Germany, Sweden and Italy. The price is yet to be disclosed but FGR will be producing only about six units in its first year.

Audi's New Comapct Q3 - The New Compact Premium SUV

Audi finally brings our long wait to an end and launches a new compact premium SUV - Q3

After teasing us for what seems like an eternity, Audi has finally revealed the Q3 a week prior to the Shanghai Motor Show.
New Audi Q3 - Compact SUV India

The car has typical Audi coupe-like styling with a single framed front grille, all-round LED lighting and steep hatch. The coupe styling doesn’t make the car an alien from the Q family. The new Q will be available in Petrol and Diesel engines with direct injection and turbocharging with 140hp and 211hp to offer, and a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The 170 horsepower gasoline engine will be powered in the front wheels only.

The beauty of this German born is in its low drag coefficients of 0.32. The interiors are spacious with commendable ergonomics and workmanship. The steep hatch at the rear unfortunately has to compromise on the storage capacity with just 16.24 cubic-feet on the inside as compared to 18.6 in the Tiguan, which is nearly 25% lesser than what the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4 have to offer.

The chassis are conjoint with a four-link rear suspension. Audi also offers four modes of driving modes including engine management and optional adaptive dampers. Additional features include adaptive light technology for the xenon lamps and enhanced parking assist which guides the driver for obstacles while parking.

The car will be priced at 29,900 Euros (approx Rs. 19,00,000) in Germany and is likely to be launched in June. Official date of when it will make its way to the other countries is yet to be known.

Chevrolet Cruze launched with 'Jet Black' interiors

Priced at Rs. 11, 92,602 (ex-showroom, Delhi) will be available across all Chevrolet dealerships in the country from now onwards

Chevrolet Cruze 'Jet Black' Interior India

Aptly advertised as the ‘Diesel Rocket’ the Chevrolet Cruze is said to hit the 100 km/hr benchmark in just 11.4 seconds from a complete standstill. While performance, interior gadgetry (keyless entry, steering mounted controls) and aggressive styling were the highest selling points of this car when it entered India’s growing Full-Size Mainstream Sedan market, one of the biggest factors that provoked any sort of hesitation with the purchase of this oil burning outperformer was the quality of materials that made up its interiors and the low slung roof that reduced headroom space to an extent, especially as compared to sedans like the Toyota Corolla Altis (Diesel).

Being the first full-sized compact sedan to be introduced based on GM all new design language for its current generation automobiles, the Chevrolet Cruze has been a part of Chevrolet’s model line-up since 2009, and has fared exceptionally well in India’s C-Segment, which is presently brimming with competition.

Making amends to the original Cruze’s facile interiors, General Motors India, now introduces its stylish ‘diesel rocket’ in an all new ‘Jet Black’ avatar, contrasting titanium coloured stitch lines and some other additional features, thus giving the sedans interiors a much needed refreshing and luxurious appeal.

Chevrolet Cruze All Black Interion
Launching the new model, Mr. Karl Slym, President & Managing Director, General Motors India said, “The new Cruze combines powerful performance with jet-black interiors that redefine luxury. The introduction of the new Chevrolet Cruze is a testament to the importance that GM India attaches to maximize customer satisfaction. We have made some exciting changes in the Cruze to make it even more alluring and attractive.”

Available in two different colors, Switch Blade Silver and Sandrift Grey, the three variants (LT, LTZ & LTZ AT) of the new Chevrolet Cruze will offer the following features depending on the variant you pick. These include:

- Audio Controls on Steering Wheels
- USB Port for audio system
- Bluetooth connectivity in audio system

Harley-Davidson launches Forty-Eight at Rs. 8.5 lakh - India

The American motorcycle giant has introduced a new model from its 2011 line-up for the Indian market, the all-new Forty-Eight with an attractive price-tag of Rs. 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Harley Davidson Forty-Eight India
Harley-Davison India today announced the addition of another spectacular model to its existing product portfolio, the all-new Forty-Eight. The pricing for the Forty-Eight is what we would say extremely aggressive and competitive at Rs. 8.50 lakh (ex-showrrom, Delhi) and the bookings will commence from April 2011. The bike will be available across the five Harley-Davidson dealerships in the country alongside the existing 2011 product line-up.

Featuring the trademark Sportster “peanut’ fuel tank design, the Forty-Eight is powered by the rowdy and powerful Evoltuon 1200cc V-Twin motor that churns out oodles of torque and the typically Harley engine feel. Oozing tonnes of brawn and attitude, the Forty-Eight is a bruiser of a bike from the Amercian giant that was introduced way back in 1957 when the culture of custom motorcycles became hugely popular amongst the Harley-Davidson fanatics. In its modern-day iteration, the Forty-Eight offers the same old-school charm but with today’s tech like electronic sequential fuel injection and modern suspension components.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight 2011 Launched

Offered as a single-seater with an exquisitely done textured saddle for the rider, there are a host of accessories like pillion seat, footpegs and backrest if one wants to carry a pillion along on the ride. Bookings for the Forty-Eight will commence in April 2011, at Harley-Davidson dealerships around India.

Ford Fiesta 2011 Revealed

The all new Ford Fiesta is soon to debut amongst the premium compact sedan segment in India and from the looks of it, the car packs enough punch to be a segment shaker.

Ford Fiesta 2011 - India

The new Ford Fiesta is the first to be revealed out of the eight new global cars that Ford plans to bring to India by the mid of next decade. Though the company hasn't unveiled the prices, this new sedan is expected to be rather competitively priced and in a similar vein to the successful Figo, customers can expect a great service and warranty system to be in place by the time the new Fiesta debuts.

"The car will be launched in the premium segment and will be aggressively priced with class leading engines that will give a tough fight to the established segment leaders," said Michael Boneham, President and Managing Director of Ford India.

The new Fiesta is dynamic in its stance and boasts of a robust design ethic. Following Ford's global design philosophy, the new Fiesta has got the genes to be a showstopper amongst its peers. The large headlights, clamshell bonnet and tauntly stretched metal with fine character lines work well to give this car a purposeful and muscular stance. Unlike the previous Fiesta which was a little sober, the new Fiesta is a visual delight. The interiors follow the same design ethic and according to the company the interior layout is supposedly inspired from the intuitiveness that one finds while using a mobile phone! Apart from that, the car boasts of a lot of goodies in terms of accessories which includes Voice Control paired with Bluetooth technology.

In terms of engine offerings, the new Fiesta is set to debut with both a petrol and a diesel unit. The new Ti-VCT petrol and TDCi diesel powertrains have been developed especially for India and are said to be performance oriented units that will gel with the superior driving dynamics that the car is said to offer.

The new Ford Fiesta will be built at Ford's manufacturing plant in Chennai and will be sold alongside the existing Ford Fiesta, which incidentally has been renamed as the Fiesta Classic. The new Fiesta sedan is set to launch within the next three months, and a hatchback version is destined to follow soon after.

Tata Indica eV2 25 kmpl Launched - Most Fuel Efficient Car in India

The Tata Indica eV2 will be priced between Rs. 3.95 - 4.77 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the CR4 diesel engine and Rs. 2.95 - 3.58 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the MPFI petrol offering.

Tata Indica eV2
Above average fuel efficiency and negligible maintenance costs have made the Indica a hassle free lucrative long-termer in India. The car continues to pump Tata Motors passenger car sales volumes even after more than a decade of being introduced in the Indian market. The first wholly indigenous car to be ever manufactured in India by Tata Motors, the Indica began its real success run after being introduced in the V2 option.

While the petrol variants of the Indica V2 were cost-effective, the oil burning models were serious mile munchers and continue to be the preferred automobile for India’s taxi segment. But unlike its Vista cousin, which has been through some serious upgrades and engine transplants thanks to Tata Motor’s tie up with Italian auto biggie FIAT, the Indica’s underbelly has been largely untouched, at least until now!

Sporting an all new CR 4 Common Rail Diesel Engine, Tata Motors now introduces the all new Indica eV2 , which has been built on the same platform as its predecessor, but with its newly plonked 1396cc mill the e V2 boasts a 32% increase in power and 46% increase in fuel efficiency.

Advanced technologies like a Auto-Drive Assist, Clutch-to-Start, Smart Engine Management System Chip, Maximum Charge Combustion and Drag Reduction come together to make the Indica e V2 a powerful, fuel efficient and more aerodynamic design as compared to the previous model.

From the outside, the e V2 gets an enhanced look supported by its sporty alloy wheels, attractive decals, a new tail light cluster and rear bumper. Interiors have also been decked up significantly with an elegant shadow beige colour tone. The top trim sports a wooden finish centre console and host of other features like power windows, keyless entry, Bluetooth enabled music system and USB port, 4 spoke collapsible steering wheel, tachometer, rear parcel shelf, 60:40 rear seating and front and rear fog lamps.

But all said and done, the first thing that ought to catch your attention with this car is the mileage that is clearly the USP behind its timely introduction in the small car segment. If you haven’t already seen the numerous ‘most fuel efficient car in India’ hoardings sprawled all over your city roads, you should know that the new e V2 offers a mileage of 25 kmpl, certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for the CR4 diesel engine.

The Tata Indica eV2 will retail for Rs. 3.95 - 4.77 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the CR4 diesel engine and Rs. 2.95 - 3.58 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the MPFI petrol. However, be advised Tata has announced that it will increase the prices of its passenger vehicles effective April 1, 2011 and Indica prices are expected to go up by Rs. 7000 -9000.

Being offered in four exciting colours- Apple Green, Neo Orange, Arctic Silver and Mint White, the new e V2 is a modern day small car offering unmatched fuel efficiency and a host of new technologies that will make it an extremely desirable option in the competitive small car segment no matter what the criteria.
