Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Price, First Look | India's Most Searched Vehicle on Google

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Launched

Priced between Rs 5.89 lakh to Rs 8.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has essentially opened doors to a parched premium people carrier segment in the country, and from the looks of it, it's hit the nail right on the head

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
It’s probably the most searched passenger vehicle on Google in the country at the moment, and not without reason. The Ertiga, besides being a Maruti Suzuki product, a brand that continues to outsell the growing competition, has been quite a few years in the making and for those who got a touch and feel of the production-ready vehicle at this year’s Auto Expo, price and not the product itself lies as the final consideration.

Well that wait is finally over, and MSIL have finally announced the availability of the MPV for the Indian masses in six variants starting from a price of Rs 5.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base Lxi Petrol version all the way up to Rs 8.45 lakh for the fully equipped Diesel model.

Yes, the new Ertiga will offer you a choice of both petrol and diesel models. A brand-new 1.4-litre VVT petrol engine which turned out to be quite a revelation on a recent test drive (Read : First Drive) in Goa, is capable of making 95PS @ 6000rpm and a rather decent 130Nm of torque @ 4000rpm. The diesel on the other hand, is the tried-and-tested, state-of-the-art 1.3 DDiS diesel unit fitted with a turbocharger and churns out 90PS @ 4000 rpm and a solid 200Nm of torque @ 1750 rpm. Both models are mated to a five-speed gearbox, and from what we experienced makes for a great drive both in the city and along the highways.

The high-end variants of this 5+2 seater from Maruti Suzuki get best in class comfort features like electronic power steering, power windows, steering-mounted audio controls, a high-end stereo system with AUX/USB in, electronically adjustable ORVMs, air conditioning and heating with blowers for the second row of seats as well and safety features such as ABS, EBD and two front airbags being offered as standard on this vehicle.

One of the stand out features in this MPV has to be its adjustable second and third row of seats which can easily be retracted or turned upright as and when required. The third row, which can comfortably seat two full sized adults is essentially your boot and when made flat provides sufficient room for basic luggage and storage equipment.

The new Ertiga (Read : Special Coverage) as we see it has tremendous potential owing to its unique seat adjustment configurations, comfort features, compact design and affordable pricing as compared to the current competition, which very naturally would be larger vehicles the likes of the Toyota Innova and the Mahindra Xylo. Complete variant wise pricing of the new Ertiga is listed below.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Ex-Showroom Price Approx:
Petrol
  • LXi - 5.89 lakh
  • VXi - 6.60 lakh
  • ZXi - 7.30 lakh
Diesel
  • LDi - 7.30 lakh
  • VDi - 7.90 lakh
  • ZDi- 8.45 lakh

Hyundai i30 Wagon to be unveiled at Geneva 2012 Auto Show

New generation Hyundai i30 Wagon takes forward the style and quality of the five-door hatchback while enhancing its practicality thanks to a larger boot.

The new-generation Hyundai i30 Wagon will be unveiled during the company’s press conference on March 6, 2012, at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show. The i30 Wagon carries the same fluidic design language as on other recent Hyundai cars along with a longer body for increased trunk space.

Like the five-door i30 hatchback, the new i30 Wagon has been designed and engineered at Hyundai’s European R&D centre in Russelsheim, Germany. The length of the new i30 Wagon has been increased by 185 mm compared to its five door sibling. Doing so has led to an increase in trunk space from 378 litres in the five door i30 to a massive and best-in-class 528 litres in the i30 Wagon. Fold down the rear seats and the trunk space increases three fold – 1,642 litres. When viewed from the front, both the i30 Wagon and its five-door sibling look the same with hexagonal grille and jewel-like headlamps. But from the B-pillar to the rear, the Wagon differs significantly with the roofline extending over the flexible passenger/cargo area adding to the dynamism of the car.

A pronounced line runs horizontally along the sides of the body rising all the way to the taillamps. The rear windscreen wraps around the D-pillar, increasing rear visibility with the deep tailgate that provides easy loading in the bay area. The i30 wagon will carry the same engines as the i30 producing 95 PS of power in the petrol motor and 135 PS in the diesel mill. Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor Europe, said: “The New Generation i30 has been widely praised for its style, quality, and value. Our new wagon offers all of those attributes plus even greater load-carrying capacity. We expect it to appeal strongly to those looking for stylish and flexible practicality, especially active families.”

The i30 Wagon is a vehicle inspired for the youth yet with a purposeful and practical packaging that will have more load carrying capacity compared to the five-door i30. The new i30 Wagon buyers will also benefit from the Five Year Triple Care that has a five-year/unlimited kilometres warranty, five years roadside assistance, and five years of vehicle health checks. The prices of the new vehicle will be announced eventually and looking at the practical yet good design language, the i30 Wagon may just reach Indian shores in time.

Ferrari F620 to be unveiled at Geneva 2012 Motor Show

Ferrari has stated that they would be unveil its F620 newest model at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The new Ferrari F620 will replace the current Ferrari 599 GT version.

It’s that exciting time of age again when Ferrari is about to unveil their new flagship model and gets enthusiasts around the world all frothing about what the newest prancing horse will be like.

The new car will possibly be called the F620, and although we are yet to find what the horse will look like just yet, we do know that it will have an all-new front-mounted, direct injection V12 engine with a displacement of around 6,200cc from the FF. The motor will be mounted on an aluminium chassis, which is to replace the one that was used by the ever-red 599 GT.

The new F620 GT car will have a lot of carbon fibre body components to keep up with the increasing weight reduction demands and ever evolving technology. Ferrari will not use expensive structural materials on this car due to high manufacturing costs and maintenance issues that customers faced on the 599 GT while driving in some typical conditions. Ferrari will opt for more maintenance-free works on this car making it more practical to use. Also the part-time four-wheel-drive system from the FF will not be used in the F620 so the car's anticipated 700 horsepower will drive the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

In any case we will have to wait for accurate specifications from Ferrari next month at the Geneva Motor Show, which will take place in March 2012.

Upcoming BMW M6 First Look | Specifications | Photogallery

INCORPORATING motorsports technology into the rigours of everyday driving, BMW's newly-announced M6 coupe and convertible will be more powerful, but more efficient as well.

Vis-à-vis its predecessor, the third-generation M6 will boast a 10 per cent increase in engine output, but with a 30 per cent reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emission, the German automaker said in an announcement.

The recent unveiling of BMW's two-door M6 is seen as a preview for the upcoming Geneva auto show in March, where the coupe is likely to be showcased in the flesh.

Under the hood, the M6 is equipped with the high-revving 4.4-litre, V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, which is also found in its M5 sedan cousin.

The 560-hp V8 in the M6 gets the coupe sprinting from 0 to 100kmh in 4.2 seconds, while the convertible makes the mark in 4.3 seconds.

But it's not all roaring beast and fuel guzzler.

The coupe records an average fuel consumption of 9.9 litres per 100 km while the convertible does 10.3 l/100km, according to BMW, with 232 grams per kilometre and 239 g/km respectively in the carbon emissions department.

Other notables in specs-wise include the seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic and options to upgrade to M carbon-ceramic brakes, a first for the M6 series.

In terms of handling, BMW lauds the M6's "mid-range agility" - in terms of the car's precision of turn-ins and traction when accelerating out of corners.

For looks, the M6 coupe has a dynamically contoured, lightweight roof made from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic.

The convertible, meanwhile, is fitted with a high-quality soft-top, complete with eye-catching "fin" styling and fully electronic opening mechanism. It takes the roof 19 seconds to open and 24 seconds to close again.
