Ford Fiesta 2011 - India

The new Ford Fiesta is the first to be revealed out of the eight new global cars that Ford plans to bring to India by the mid of next decade. Though the company hasn't unveiled the prices, this new sedan is expected to be rather competitively priced and in a similar vein to the successful Figo, customers can expect a great service and warranty system to be in place by the time the new Fiesta debuts.

"The car will be launched in the premium segment and will be aggressively priced with class leading engines that will give a tough fight to the established segment leaders," said Michael Boneham, President and Managing Director of Ford India.

The new Fiesta is dynamic in its stance and boasts of a robust design ethic. Following Ford's global design philosophy, the new Fiesta has got the genes to be a showstopper amongst its peers. The large headlights, clamshell bonnet and tauntly stretched metal with fine character lines work well to give this car a purposeful and muscular stance. Unlike the previous Fiesta which was a little sober, the new Fiesta is a visual delight. The interiors follow the same design ethic and according to the company the interior layout is supposedly inspired from the intuitiveness that one finds while using a mobile phone! Apart from that, the car boasts of a lot of goodies in terms of accessories which includes Voice Control paired with Bluetooth technology.

In terms of engine offerings, the new Fiesta is set to debut with both a petrol and a diesel unit. The new Ti-VCT petrol and TDCi diesel powertrains have been developed especially for India and are said to be performance oriented units that will gel with the superior driving dynamics that the car is said to offer.

The new Ford Fiesta will be built at Ford's manufacturing plant in Chennai and will be sold alongside the existing Ford Fiesta, which incidentally has been renamed as the Fiesta Classic. The new Fiesta sedan is set to launch within the next three months, and a hatchback version is destined to follow soon after.
